Healing spaces - ECHO

With the right approach in design and architecture, can naturalistic space
planning serve as a way to facilitate the healing of sexual traumas?
Knowing that this is a social problem that needs sensible research, teaching
and understanding, I will therefore not make any claims on “how to fix the
problem”, but rather create a bridge between architecture, design and a
social issue.

In the words of the American architect Michael Murphy, architecture can be
a transformative engine for change.

My goal with this project isn’t to go into the depths of the social issues, nor
inform of the many difficulties that comes along with sexual trauma. I also
want to stir away from trying and resolving such a complexed issue, nor
attempt to design a center for sexual assault victims.
